Poetry on da Bus... and Miscommunication

Hello all! Back in 2025, I was lucky enough to be selected by NextGen in Strathcona County to participate in their Young Artists in Motion project. This meant a snippet of my poem, Belonging, would be put on display on Strathcona County buses... and it is still up! (Photo evidence included below! I really like how they designed the typefaces/colours ehehe)
I've hesitated to make a post about this, though, since there has been a miscommunication happening behind the scenes. This Strathcona County News Article was written on the topic. The words I sent were "I am a frequent rider of buses"... but this was edited, and now the article falsely states I am a "frequent rider of Strathcona County buses". I am not based in Strathcona County. I live in St. Albert. I was upfront and honest about that when I applied. I have made efforts to correct this, but alas the article remains unchanged, so here we are making a blog post.
I was (and still am) super excited to have been a part of this. Bus poetry rocks man, and I've always wanted to be a part of one of these projects bringing poetry to the people on da bus. Besides, having a friend message me randomly and say "I SAW YOUR POETRY IT IS ON MY BUS" was an amazing experience ;)
So despite the bit of a damper the whole article situation has put on things, here's to poetry on da bus. May there be many more buses, and many more poems XD
